This Week At White Noise...

Nothing makes a bookworm happier than a good coffee shop! Well…White Noise is fantastic, babes! And it’s my neighborhood! Not walking distance, but about a five minute drive, so that will do.  

We’ve come here enough times to receive our 10th stamp on our White Noise card, which grants us a free cup of coffee, and we’re half way through our second card. We love the vibe, the food, and most importantly the coffee.  It’s delicioussssss! I usually order with the cappuccino and Kenny always has the red eye.  As far as food goes, the White Noise BEC and the avocado toast are tasty and filling, but most of the time I just want their butter and jam toast (Which is now offered on a biscuit! Yasss).   

If you’re ever in Flushing, Queens and in the mood for a slammin’ cup of Joe, stop by White Noise! 

Little Leaders Become BIG Leaders

My lover came across this adorable children’s book on Facebook and immediately ordered a few off Amazon to share with his niece and his friends’ young daughters.  

It’s filled with stories of Black women leaders from our history and even has contemporary Black women and girls that are kickin’ butt today.  

I think it’s pretty clear by now how important it is for young girls, especially young brown and Black girls, to see themselves represented in a positive manner in books, television, and art. 

I definitely recommend this read to families raising little queens. <3
